Canyoning

You want something “different” ?  You’ve been on boats, surfing boards, … You’ve been to beaches, lakes, …  You’ve seen the waterfalls …  Well : try canyoning …

Canyoning

The principle is simple : you will be brought to a canyon.  This is a rock formation formed by water flowing down from the high mountains.  With proper equipment you start at the top and get yourself all the way down.  Jumping, gliding, swimming, abseiling, …

Canyoning

The water is coming right from the high mountains.  So a lot of it is melted snow.  Just like with rafting, the “funny” bit of it is it’s an ideal acitivity to do on a rainy day …  The water in the canyon is always more or less at the same temperature. It’s in constant motion, so it doesn’t really get time to heat up.  When it’s 40° outside, the difference is … a lot :-).  When it’s “only” 25° it’s not such a shock.  And you’ll get wet anyway …

Canyoning

Don’t worry too much if you’re not a fan of high jumps. The highest jump is 9 meter.  But if you don’t want to do that, you can skip it.  Or go to a lower “jump point”.

We recommend FROST RAFTING AND CANYONING TOURS.  More information on their website.

Folders available in the apartment as well.

Our personal experience:

You have an appointment at the camp around 9AM.  The canyon is not on the camp site.  You’re driven to the canyon with a mini bus.  You need to bring sporting shoes (that will get wet), a towel and the rest you’ll get.  Just like they say, the water IS cold.  But it’s worth the effort.  You’re back at the camp site between 1 and 2PM.  So it’s almost a full day activity.

If you have small kids, there’s also a family activity.  Ideal for the smaller kids and it gives them a taste of the real thing.
